Riders pair up, and each pair holds the ends of a 24"  crate paper ribbon between their inside hands (you can pick your partner at the event you don't need to sign up together)

The announcer calls out various gaits—such as a walk, trot, or lope/canter, you can be asked to back up reverse directions until one team is the only team left with an intact ribbon 

dropping, ripping, or losing your ribbon results in removal from arena 

maneuvers get increasingly harder until only one team is left ​
